The Black River High School opened its doors to the Ludlow community in 1939 with a student body of 454. A three-story brick building it served to educate generations of Ludlow families. BRHS known for its sports always drew a community crowd – a tradition that lasted until the last event. BRHS students were competitive outside of sports. Many students participated in choral competitions, Art shows, and the National History Project - making it to Washington, D.C.
With the closing of the school in 2020 – there was a viable loss in sense of community. Many a choral concert, art show and Memorial Day program continue to be missed by the generations that supported the students and attended their alma mater’s events.
